Swoop Scoop

For any Adam Sandler fan, the mention of Scuba Steve instantly brings up the “Big Daddy” character. Although little Julian couldn’t join his favorite friend underwater, that doesn’t mean you can’t take a stab at it. Be a member of the Scuba Squad with today’s Swoop from the Berry Dive Center. Choose from the following options:

  • $227 for a basic open-water PADI-certification scuba diving course (a $454 value)
  • $180 for an advanced open-water PADI-certification scuba diving course (a $344 value)

Whether you dive like a dolphin or are new to the underwater world, Berry Dive Center has the scuba course for you. The basic certification course will give you personal class and pool time, with only four students to each instructor. Then you’ll get hands-on experience at four open water dives (two on Saturday and two on Sunday) in Kankakee. Dives are held two times a month, so you’ll have plenty of time to get fitted for your 7mm wetsuit and get your gear ready to dive (just check the schedule). The advanced certification course will take you on five adventure dives over Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. on both days. You’ll learn to navigate underwater, to dive in deep water, to safely explore wrecks, and to search and recover. To take the advanced course, you must be PADI certified already, but these adventure dives can credit toward a PADI speciality diver course. Both courses include scuba BCD, regulator, gauges, tanks, weights and wetsuit. This way you only need to pick up a scuba quality mask, snorkel and fins, which won’t be hard with the $20 off merchandise over $170 for Swoopers. Once you’re done with these classes you’ll be ready to explore the ocean floor, or just Lake Michigan. So swoop in on today’s deal to be your own scuba superhero.
