Swoop Scoop

On the outside, your four-legged friend may be cute and cuddly. But on the inside, he’s plotting which pair of shoes to rip apart next and where to leave his mark on the carpet. If your pooch has claimed the throne in your humble abode, teach him that he’s barking up the wrong tree with today’s Swoop: $95 for a six-week dog training course (a $195 value) from AnimalSense.

Training dogs for more than a decade, AnimalSense will knock some sense — using proven positive reinforcement methods, of course — into your precious pet at one of their 11 Chicagoland locations, ending your doggie dilemmas for good. Owner Lindsay Rapp and her team of 15 trainers boast 75 years of collective experience, not to mention numerous nods from the press for their work. Whether you’re looking to teach an old dog new tricks, housebreak a new pup or tame your wild beast, AnimalSense has a course for your pooch. The Fido Foundations class is perfect for showing your furry adult friend the basics, including simple commands like "sit" and "stay," as well as addressing common issues like jumping and greeting. You can start your puppy on the right paw with Puppy Pre-School, a curriculum designed to housetrain and socialize your young pooch. And if your dog has a zest for the outdoors but the attention span of a goldfish, consider Focus! Distraction Training for the Real World, which will teach your pooch how to give you his undivided attention, no matter how tempting those squirrels and strangers may be. Today’s deal is throwing you a bone — swoop in and make amends with your best friend.

Swoop Chatter

  • Hi Susan, Here is what their website says about the coming home class: Based on our extensive experience and knowledge of shelter dog behavior, we created this class to meet the needs of re-homed and rescued dogs 8 months old and up. We will work on basic handling and obedience skills to encourage good canine manners and facilitate communication and trust.
